    Modern technology has proved itself a major force in virtually every sector in contemporary life. This is on the assumption that almost every human activity is basically scientific, technical or technological in form. The fizzing space of changes in society and in all aspects of education as key to human development has heightened the need for more innovations and creativity in education, not least in Academic Libraries as the hub of academic service delivery. One emerging technology in response to this need that is gaining traction across the globe is Artificial Intelligence (AI), a multitask computer system set to redefine the way libraries and other sectors function. This paper titled Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Academic Libraries in Nigeria: Benefits and Challenges is a qualitative assessment of the use of the latest technology in Academic Libraries in Nigeria and issues around it. The paper seeks to plough related literature to arrive at the conceptual meaning and interpretation of this 21st century breakthrough and possible benefits and pit-falls in the context of Academic Libraries, it's socio-ecological variants that surround it's utilization in Nigeria was also explored. Conclusion was drawn on the basis of which way suggestions were made

    THE ROLE OF LIBRARY PERSONNEL IN THE CREATION, ADVOCACY AND DISCOVERABILITY OF OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

    This study examines the management of open educational resources (OER) among personnel working in university libraries in Osun State. it looks at the involvement of the staff in the creation, advocacy, and discoverability of OER in the institutions. The sampling technique included one hundred and sixty-three (163) library personnel 91 librarians and 72 library officers serving in the institutions. A descriptive survey design was adopted using a structured questionnaire via Google Forms through the Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Library Association, and personal e-mail addresses. Only one hundred and sixteen (116) respondents filled out and submitted the questionnaire. The data generated from this process was analyzed subsequently using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that the personnel are involved in advocacy projects, creation, and discoverability of OER in the university libraries. However, there is room for improvement to deepen this crucial involvement.

    INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES UTILIZATION FOR RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN ACADEMIC AND SPECIAL LIBRARIES: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

    This study looked into how digital technologies, such as computers, the internet, and mobile devices, are used to manage library resources in academic and special libraries. With a target population of 27,730, the study surveyed 845 librarians, staff members, and users using a descriptive research approach and questionnaires. Notwithstanding the widespread belief that special libraries have more ICT resources than academic libraries, the findings demonstrated that ICTs are underutilized in resource management. The study really discovered that compared to special libraries, academic libraries in South-South, Nigeria have greater ICT resources. ICT adoption in resource management requires more than just having them available; a dependable power source and a motivated workforce are also essential for successful ICT implementation

    EMPOWERING INFORMATION SERVICE DELIVERY THE ROLES OF WOMEN LIBRARIANS IN PROMOTING ACADEMIC LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT IN TARABA STATE, NIGERIA

    The study investigated the empowering information service deliver, the roles of women librarians in promoting library development in Taraba State, Nigeria. This study was guided by the following research objectives: to determine the roles played by women librarians for effective information service delivery in academic libraries in Taraba State, to determine the level of services available for the women librarian in delivering the role in academic libraries studied Taraba State and to identify the challenges faced by women librarians in academic Libraries in Taraba State. The study focused on the following tertiary institutions namely; Federal University Wukari, Taraba State University Jalingo, Kwararafa University Wukari, College of Education Zing, College of Health Takum, College of Health and Midwifery Jalingo, State Polytechnic Suntai and Federal Polytechnic Bali. This study employed the use of descriptive research design. The study population consisted of 45 women librarians in academic libraries in Taraba State, Nigeria. Census techniques were used for this study. In this study, since the total number of women librarians was not large, the total enumeration sampling technique was adopted to gather the data. The findings of the study revealed that women librarians played key roles that contribute largely to library services for the benefits of the users and community service. The finding also established that women librarians organize various advocacy programmes for community services in order to promote information literacy. The study shows that challenges hindering the expected role of women librarians include lack of poor skills and competencies, inadequate knowledge of computer and office tools. The study concluded that the role of woman librarians in tertiary institutions cannot be underestimated. This is because women librarians’ information service delivery has become vital in modern era in line with the global equality goal in the educational system. It recommended that there is the need for the government to train or develop the woman librarians on the dynamic of information service delivery in electronic library system, in order to cope with the information demands

    INFLUENCE OF THE USE OF RECORDS RETENTION SCHEDULE IN SHARI’A COURTS FOR DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE IN KADUNA STATE

    The study explores the influence of records retention schedules in Shari’a courts on the dispensation of justice in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Shari’a courts, which handle cases under Islamic law, are a critical component of the Nigerian legal system. Effective records management is essential for ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient decision-making in these courts. To investigate the specific influence of records retention schedules on the justice system in Shari’a courts, the study employed a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional survey. The population included 259 Shari’a court staff, with a stratified sampling technique used to select 143 staff members (53%). Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire, revealing that General Records Retention Schedule and Custom Records Retention Schedule influences dispensation of justice in Shari’a courts in Kaduna State. The study concluded that the use of records retention schedules significantly impacts the dispensation of justice in Shari’a courts in Kaduna State. Based on these findings, the study recommends that the courts management should mandate all record managers to strictly adhere to the constructs of retention schedule in their everyday record management practices
