dc.description.abstractThis project is problem solving in nature. The Nigerian Brick and Clay Products, Kano is a subsidiary of the Nigerian Mining Corporation. The Kano Brickworks has a basic problem of low sales of its products - Burnt Bricks. The research starts with certain assumptions which could be the reasons for the low sales. These are high price of product, failure of the product to meet the requirements of the customers, inadequate promotion of the product and poor distribution network. Marketing audit is used as a framework for analyzing the problem. Questionnaires were distributed to Architects, Engineers and Contractors who are the Decision Makers in the purchase of such products (building materials. Interviews supplemented the questionnaires. An important finding of the research is that the size of Burnt Brick does not satisfy the needs and wants of customers. The Manufacturers should consider increasing the size of bricks. Another finding is in relation to the price of Burnt Brick which is higher than that of blocks thereby limiting the sale of Bricks. Although Kano Brickworks has a huge stockpile of finished products, they are not available to buyers due to poor distribution. The company should improve the Distribution of its products as it is important to the sale of products. The manufacturers vi of Burnt Bricks should make the public aware of the product and its qualities through aggressive promotion in the National Dailies, on TV, and through Architectsen_US
