Abstract
The study, design and implementation of a comprehensive Program aimed at relieving the Finite Element Analyst of the rigors of correctly using the computer to implement his technique, was presented in this thesis. It was principally meant to remove the constraint on the so much required public literacy in the use of the potentials of Finite Element Method in problem solving and also increase the non-computer professionals desire for Finite Element Method as a tool, that will help to describe in an explicit manner, the steps that will realize his intentions. The research started from a theoretical standpoint, with the stages of the Finite Element Method being isolated and transformed, for cognition and easy manipulation, to a well structured techniques based on Software Engineering Approach using an empirical variation functional technique. The resulting interactive Software tool, which makes use of electronic sheets and subsheets has an edge over most conventional methods. It has also the capability of storage conservation and program expansion facilities. Though interactively slow, it is hoped that the design will be very useful in most applications that will involve the use of finite elements
