Abstract
Importance of quality control through chemical analysis has long been established in most developed countries. Quality control of animal feedstuffs have been given little attention in Nigeria. Based on this, methods for carrying out effective quality control of animal feedstuffs have been outlined using some feed stuffs as examples. National Animal Production Research Institute broiler starter rations showed a good scientific formulation even though there were some high and low results obtained especially for the mineral contents. Variations of the proximate and toxic factor results of the Pfizer poultry products from established standards proved better than the mineral content results. For the National Animal Production Research Institute dairy cattle rations and lamb concentrate feed, the results for the proximate factor were in order while there appeared short-comings in the mineral nutrients and thioglucoside contents.
