Abstract
The study reported was an investigation of the adequacy
of the resources available to primary school science teachers
in six Local Government Areas of the Borno State. The
resources selected for investigation were:
l. The professional equipment of the teacher.
2. Administrative support given to the teacher.
3. Material resources available as science teaching
aids.
The data for the study were gathered through
questionnaires and interviews- A total of 120 respondents
from 57 primary schools suppled the data. The findings of
the study suggested the following:
l. Even the certificated science teachers had
no specific preparation to cope with the
implementation of the Primary Science Curriculum.
2. The administrative support for the teachers in
the schools were inadequate, non-uniform, and
haphazardly provided.
3. Though the teachers claimed they used simple
visual aids, syllabus, and textbooks in science
instruction, no school had any of the standard
type of audio-visual equipment and materials for
use with them as science teaching aids,
