dc.description.abstractNigeria as a nation is blessed with both natural and human resources but looking at the economic situation, Nigeria has not grown as expected because of certain factors. One of such factors is that of unmotivated staff. The researcher in search for reasons why the Nigerian work force are unmotivated choose the topic “An Evaluation of Staff Motivation in Nigeria”, with a case study of Kaduna Polytechnic. The project work is divided into five main chapters. Chapter one introduces the subject matter “Staff Motivation”. The statement of general problem was identified and two working hypothesis were put forth. Chapter two attempts t looking at what authorities in the social science have written on the topic. Chapter three identified some statistical tools that were used on analysis the data in chapter four. The researcher administered are hundred questionnaires using the random sampling method. Eighty were completed, returned and analysed. The analysis was able to read that inadequate and poor performance appraisal method used by the Polytechnic acts as deterrents to staff motivation while training and man power development has a positive effect on motivating staff for higher productivity. The research work was concluded in chapter five and the observation made was that with good incentives and better performance appraisals Nigerian worker would be motivated to put in their best which would increase productivityen_US
