Abstract
The Design of a Traffic Detector using the phase-lock-loop concept is presented. The Detector is capable of adjusting to environmental f l u c t u a t i o n s with no l o s s of accuracy. The Detector o s c i l l a t o r is discussed in light of the components susceptible to changes in environmental conditions and the a b i l i t y of the phase-lock-loop discriminative c i r c u i t to cope with such d r i f t s . The v e r s a t i l i t y of the Detector is demonstrated by i l l u s t i n g two of i ts many p o t e n t i a l applications - the Automatic Traffic Data Collection and Semi-Vehicle-Actuated Traffic Control.
