dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the impact of the implementation of Digital NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) on the accuracy and timeliness of aeronautical information dissemination, focusing on Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport under the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The objectives of the study are: to assess the current level of implementation of Digital NOTAM systems in aeronautical information services; to evaluate the impact of Digital NOTAM on the accuracy of aeronautical information; and to identify the challenges encountered in the adoption and use of Digital NOTAM systems. A quantitative research approach was adopted, utilizing a cross-sectional survey design. Data was collected using structured questionnaires administered to a total population of 159 staff across three key departments: Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), Aeronautical Information Management (AIM), and Logistics. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to interpret responses. Findings revealed that while Digital NOTAM systems have been deployed and are in operational use, the implementation lacks full standardization, with incomplete workflow integration and inadequate training among personnel. The system has significantly improved data accuracy and moderately enhanced information dissemination timeliness; however, infrastructural limitations, legacy system incompatibility, and human capacity gaps continue to hinder optimal performance. The study concludes that Digital NOTAM holds great promise for improving aviation safety and operational efficiency in Nigeria, but its success depends on a holistic approach that addresses both technological and organizational readiness within the aviation sector. Based on these findings, the study recommends standardizing operational procedures, investing in targeted training, upgrading digital infrastructure, and addressing system interoperability.
