dc.description.abstractThe study examined the use of subscribed electronic resources by undergraduate students who patronize the Database/CD-ROM Service Unit of Kashim Ibrahim Library, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria. A snowball sampling technique was used to sample and gather patrons ’ opinions who utilize the unit services through a period of six months (January’ - June, 2014); a total of 350 undergraduate students patronized the unit during the period. Data collected were analyzed quantitatively, results presented in tables and graphically. The results revealed awareness level of the diversified electronic information resources to be very low. Scores of distribution shows the most patronized electronic resource to be JSTOR (13.2%), Science Direct (9.4%) and AGORA/TEEAL (7.0%). Reported barriers militating were compiled and ranked bv the unit staff which comprise of low bandwidth, poor connectivity, lack of skill to surf the subscribed databases, constant power failure and insufficient knowledge of the available e-resources. Conclusively, there arc sufficient electronic resources which the library management subscribed for use by undergraduate student. Recommendations include the utilization of demographic data generated by the unit for e-resources selection and acquisition, sensitization of the students, refurbishing of the dilapidated infrastructure of the unit and expanding the unit sitting capacity.en_US
