This study analyzed the facilities in public primary schools in Funtua Educational zone using GIS. The data acquired for this research includes, records of names and addresses of the primary schools, geographical coordinates of all the primary schools with the aid of handheld GPS receiver, georeferenced and digitized administrative map of the Funtua Educational zone, and 77 copies of a questionnaire were administered to the Head Teachers of all the 77 primary schools in the educational zone. ArcGIS 10.1 was used for analysis. A relational database was created for the available facilities in public primary school which was queried, and the results are presented in tables and charts. The study revealed that there is high concentration of primary schools in southern educational zone even though central zone had higher enrolment. Enrolment of boys is higher than the enrolment of girls in the study area. Nearest neighbour analysis tool in ArcGIS revealed that the pattern of public primary schools distribution in Funtua Educational zone was dispersed. Also the study showed that only 30% of primary school in the study area had six or more classes, 86% of the schools had staff rooms, 95% of the primary schools need library facility, 8% had computer room, while all the primary schools had playground, and none of the primary schools had Elementary laboratory and Meteorological station. The recommendations of the study include: teachers should be encouraged to acquire more educational skills, government and non-governmental organizations with the P.T.A should provide adequate facilities in schools that are deprived so as to improve academic performance, and also there is need to create an information and communication technology unit that will be responsible with creating and managing of geospatial information that will aid decision making.en_US
