Abstract
African literature has grown rapidly despite her history of a continent exploited and also under the domination of Europeans, but also for the fact that African literature is relatively new and young because it is written in European languages. African literary works are written in colonial languages because for a long time Africans have made European languages their own by domesticating them first and by adding idioms of African national languages later. In fact, in literature as well as in literary translation, each `study aims at analyzing linguistic and extra linguistic resources of texts. In comparative studies whether of literature or stylistics, one finds texts that are written in incorrect hybrid forms of European languages like English, French, Portuguese, Spanish. variants of these languages have become sub-languages of communication by default in large geographical areas. Jargons like slang, pidgin French( français de Moussa or francais de la rue) and pidgin English are mixed with local African idioms and incorrect or uncommon French and English expressions. This work is devoted to identify the different usages of English language particularly pidgin English with the view of determining its impact on the translated version of A Man of the people. It is worth noting that pidgin English has manifested throughout A Man of the people but could same be said of pidgin French (Français de moussa or français de la rue) in Le demagogue ?
