Abstract
The study is an exploration of the dynamics shaping and refocusing Public Administration in theory and practice: mainly focusing on the contributions of Comparative Public Administration (CPA). The study is set to identify the paradigms of public administration and the various changes encountered by the young discipline from its inception as an academic field of study in the late 19''' century to its present state of earth. In a bid to achieve this contributions of the newly subfield of Comparative Public Administration and how this have reshaped the mother discipline were extensively analysed through literatures obtained from text books, journals, and material obtained from the internet. The study revealed among other things that, the paradigmatic shifts in public administration depicts various efforts of governments to adopt and adapt to new and better ways to satisfy the yearnings of their public and the scholarly attempts to rationalize those approaches, and that, the changes in concept from politics administration dichotomy to public administration as political science up to governance and collaborative government levels remains key to understanding the foundation of the relationship between the government and the citizens of a country on one hand and the locus and the focus of the discipline through its various developmental stages.
