dc.description.abstract | As a result of the outbreak of an unidentified disease among onion plants, these plants were examined quantitatively for their auxin contents. Both the bulb and the stem were found to contain detectable levels of Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), The stem appeared to have generally a lower level of IAA than the bulb. The concentration of IAA in twisted (diseased) onion plant was also determined. Though only one specimen of the twisted onion was available for the present work, it is very likely the twisted onion contains a higher level of IAA than do the healthy ones. This will have to be further confirmed during the rainy season when the twisted plants are usually available. | en_US |
