dc.description.abstractThis paper discussed the system of filing of patients' records in the hospitals. It defined patients' records as medical history of the patients documented in any medium paper or (electronic device). Records filing was defined as the order of arrangement of records in the file. Challenges in filing of records found in the hospitals include inadequate skilled personnel, inadequate filing equipment among others. The paper concluded that patients' records are not well filed in hospitals leading to wrong prescriptions with wrong drugs when wrong sickness history records are used leading to complications and sometimes death. The paper recommended among others that skilled personnel especially those who specialised in records management should be employed, adequate filing equipment should be provided, staff who manage patients' records should develop positive attitudes to their work.
