dc.description.abstractBuildings in any geographic location are subject to a wide variety of hazards of natural disasters. This research is aimed at identifying the common hazards that buildings are exposed to with the view of coming up with measures that will assist in mitigating the impact of disasters on the buildings and building users at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. Eighty structured questionnaires were administered to building users and twenty to construction professionals. Results of the research revealed that the adequacy and awareness of protection of buildings against hazards is good but in need of further improvement. It was however recommended that proper and adequate investigation of the location of proposed buildings should be conducted so as to ascertain the type of hazards present and measures should be put in place to mitigate any identified hazard
