dc.description.abstractThe study assessed the constraints to implementing campaigns of polio immunization information in Jega LGA, Kebbi State, Nigeria. Identify the socio-cultural, and develop a communication framework for the lay health workers. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages and thematic: -semantic analysis, such as interview transcripts and survey responses, were employed for data analysis of 177 narratives, which explained the approaches; the data were classified into categories and further collapsed into ten (10) emergent categories. Data were collected from 10 Lay Health Workers from each political ward, using a proportional sampling technique and mixed research. The study’s finding showed that the socio-cultural barriers are rooted in the deeply entrenched traditions, religious values, and community belief systems. Also, revealed a lack of trust in Western unsolicited interventions in the communities. Furthermore, showed that the tactical efficiency of the ten communication channels used severely undermined by a disconnect between volume and information fidelity. Additionally, revealed that in interpersonal communication and group contact circles, information is frequently distorted as it passes through multiple actors. In conclusion the operational and literacy gaps such as the structural operational failures, low maternal literacy, and traditional reliance fuel hesitancy far more than a simple lack of public knowledge. In addition, socio-cultural barriers distrusted health promoters, conspiracy theories, and patriarchal dynamics exclusive male decision-makers. The recommendations include institutionalising the workforce to stabilise healthcare personnel, implementing dualtrack gender communication to replace generic messaging with targeted reassurances regarding side effects, and promoting localisation and religious integration to minimise friction by discontinuing external deployments and engaging the support of Imams and traditional rulers in Kebbi State.
