dc.description.abstract | This study was carried out to find out the effect of teachers’ strategies and material resources on the implementation of the national curriculum for senior secondary schools in Fine Arts. The sample was drawn from male and female SS II and SS III students offering Fine Arts. Kaduna, Katsina and Kwara were used as sample states. The art teachers and their students involved in the study totaled 570. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaires, the validation for the questionnaires were observations and intemew. The instruments generated from the theories reviewed were validated by seven lecturers in various areas of specialization in the Faculty of Education. They were used a long with a check list for observations and discussions. The major findings were, materials, equipment, and facilities were not available in the schools; the methods used for teaching were adequate; Time allocated to art education was inadequate; Exhibitions and excursions were organised in the schools; school supervisors were not available; and there were no clubs in the schools. Ten null hypotheses were tested. Eight were rejected and two were retained. Recommendations were made to help curriculum designers, Ministry of Education, the school authorities, Fine Arts teachers, Fine Arts students parents, organisations such as industries, companies, parastatals and ministries The various governments are to provide qualified art teachers; the 3 components of Arts should be taught separately; government should supply adequate art materials, tools, viii administration of the questionnaires in Kaduna, Katsina and Kwara states.
