Abstract
This paper discussed the application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management. Concept of ICTs as integration of computers and telecommunication devices used for capturing, processing, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information is discussed. The concept of teaching as process of passing information from the teacher to the learner, concept of learning as ability to change ones behavior as a result of information received, the application of ICTs in long distance and classroom learning of Archives and Records Management is discussed. Types of ICTs that are used in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management such as projector, electronic mails, computers, teleconferencing (both audio and audio-visual forms) etc., Components of ICTs used in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management as computers and telecommunication devices, importance of ICTs in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management such as promotion of individual learning, time saving etc. were highlighted. Methods of ICTs application in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management such as lecture delivery, seminar presentation etc., challenges of ICTs application in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management such as technological obsolescence, bandwidth problem etc. were also discussed. The paper concluded that application of ICTs in teaching and learning Archives and Records Management is very important because it help the teacher to teach large population of the students, it promotes individual learning among the students etc.
