This paper study the Impact of Banks' Credit Scheme on Small-scale farmers in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The rational for the study is to determine whether the rural banking scheme have benefitted the small-scale farmers because of the commercial banks' operational philosophy of liquidty and profitability which emphasises short-term lending as against long-term funding requirement of agriculture. The study recognised that it was because of the inadequacies (mode of operation, structure) of commercial banks that the non-institutional credit sources played a major role in the supply of rural farm credit despite exhorbitant rate of interest charged. The study showed that farmers' access to credit is significantly related to the level of agricultural output and adoption of modern technique and inputs particularly in the economies where majority of small-scale farmers are poor and cannot privately saved. The study also used an econometric method of analysis to determine the relationship between loans and output in the area. The overall results showed that these loan have a postive impact. Based on the results, we propose a reinforcement of the rural bank shceme's credit and selective transformation and restructuring of commercial banks to practice universal banking.en_US
