dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study is to highlight the contribution of Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority to rural development in Sokoto State by identifying the socio-Economic benefits provided towards improving the living standard of the rural dwellers in the authority’s catchment areas. The data for the study was collected through questionnaire, observations, as well as official records of Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, textbooks and other published and unpublished material. The questionnaire was distributed in eight local government areas involving fifteen villages using stratified sampling and the data collected were analysed using Pearson Chi-square statistical techniques in order to test the relationship between Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority activities and increase in agricultural production and improvement in the socio-economic lots of the target population. On the basis of its findings and observation, the study recommended among others that SRBDA should be well funded by the Government so as to be able to carry out its functions.en_US
