Abstract
This research examined the ―Effects of Mathematics Teachers‘ Basic Content Abilities on The Performance of Senior Secondary School Students Mathematics in Kaduna State Nigeria‖. Four main hypotheses were formulated and tested. The target population was thirty one thousand eight hundred and thirty three (31,833). Simple and stratified random sampling was used in selecting the fifteen (15) schools and the number of male/female students. A total Sample of 348 Students was drawn from fifteen Senior Secondary Schools in Kaduna State. The hypotheses were tested using various statistical techniques such as Means, Standard Deviation , Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), to test the significance of difference or relationship if any at α = 0.05. The result of this test indicated that the students‘ performance was poor as only 56 (24.03% of the population) scored the minimum 40% pass mark. Out of these passes, 9 (16.07% of the passes) were female while the remaining 47(83.93% of passes) were male students. The teachers have relatively a fair result which showed that 9 (75% of the teachers) scoring above the minimum 40% pass mark while 3(25% of the teachers) scoring below 40% pass mark. Some of the results from hypotheses tested on the five content domains were as follows: There is no significant relationship between teachers and the students mean score of the basic ability in the content domain and also there is no significant difference in the mean performance among SSIII students in the various content areas of the senior secondary school curriculum.
