dc.description.abstractThe feeling of happiness, love, fear, anger, or hatred which is caused by the situations a poet finds himself in is known as emotions. It has been widely acknowledged that the concept of emotion is a vital tool in the composition of literary works. It shapes the language, imagination and aestethics in an art work. An emotion can however be said to be truth or otherwise, such a judgement could be deducted from a lot of factors to be considered by a scholar. This paper examines the case of truthfulness or otherwise of the eulogic emotions in a poem composed by Barrister Adam Usman. The poem, in which panegyric was identified as a major theme was considered as a case study of truth and false emotions that led the poet to praise some personalities and was critically studied and analysed in view of the aboveen_US
