Abstract
This study examines the effect of knowledge management on entrepreneurs and business
organizations in Nigeria. The increasing importance of knowledge as a strategic resource has
made knowledge management a critical factor for improving organizational performance,
innovation, and competitiveness. The study adopted a descriptive research design supported
by systematic literature review and survey method. Primary data were collected from 182
respondents comprising entrepreneurs, managers, and employees of selected Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria, while secondary data were obtained from relevant
literature published between 2020 and 2025. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics
and multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between knowledge acquisition,
knowledge sharing, knowledge application, and business performance. The findings revealed
that knowledge acquisition is highly practiced among Nigerian business organizations, while
knowledge sharing and knowledge application are moderately implemented. Regression
results further indicated that all dimensions of knowledge management have a significant
positive effect on organizational performance, with knowledge application exerting the
strongest influence. The literature review also confirmed that effective knowledge management
enhances innovation, productivity, and sustainable business growth, although its
implementation is constrained by weak infrastructure, limited digital adoption, and inadequate
knowledge-sharing culture. The study concludes that knowledge management is a key
determinant of entrepreneurial and organizational success in Nigeria. It recommends
strengthening knowledge-sharing culture, improving digital knowledge systems, and
enhancing capacity-building programs to fully harness the benefits of knowledge management
for sustainable business performance
