Abstract
Marketing may be defined as the performance of all business activities that direct the flow of goods and services from the producers to the consumers. The process includes buying, selling, transportation, storage, standardization, grading, financing, information and risk bearing. In every economy, marketing acts as a catalyst because the economy and the market system have reciprocal effect on each other. Therefore the role of marketing in the Nigerian economy can not be over emphasized. The project represents a humble attempt to study how to cany out marketing effectively. For this puipose, the National Livestock Projects Division's Dairy Unit was selected as an organization which engages in marketing activities, and whose marketing division is quite young and needs to be guided with the much needed strategy to effectively market its products. This research has shown effective marketing as an important function in industrial organizations in Nigeria.
