Abstract
The behaviour of laser diode in the vicinity of the lasing threshold was investigated using numerical methods. Polynomial equations were fitted to the electro-optical characteristics of the laser and the temperature variation of the coefficients of these fits were related to temperature dependent parameters of the laser. The approximate values of the threshold current was also determined from these coefficients. A novel method of presenting laser characteristics called Temperaturecurrent characteristics was further derived from Light-current characteristics by linear interpolation and approximate values of the temperature sensitivity of the laser was determined from this characteristics.
