| dc.description.abstract | A B S T R A C T This thesis topic depicts a place serving "both as a Liason Office cum cultural centre. The complex is to project the two images. At the same time serving the interest of the state0 And the indigenes and non indigenes resident or non resident within the area of designation. This thesis is hypothetical in the sense that it is being sited in Abuja, and projections for the design done according to the hypothetical assumptions available in Abuja. It is envisaged that the population of Abuja (as the seat of the Federal Government) would stand at six million. A substantial amount of this population being Imo State indigenes, resident and working away from their cultural environmentt. The link to that environment should be sustained in the Federal Capital. The Liason Office serves the purpose of representing the State within the Capital as well as a forum for information dissimination. It also serves as a forum for promoting and fostering the appreciation and revival of their arts and culture. This thesis proposal is based on the understanding of Ibo Architecture, on the aspect of settlement pattern, forms, forms organisation, space definition, relationship and hierarchy, spatial analysis and evaluate the information and use them as a bssis towards evolving a buildings that reflect certain attributes of a particular region. AIMS To design an Imo State House that will functionally satisfy all of the parameters above and at the same time reflects the area it represents, OBJECTIVES To study Ibo Architecture as a basis for evolution of a complex that will reflect the attributes of the area it serves within a context whole.
