This project work identified the problems and prospects of the hotel industry in Nigeria. About 30 hotels were used for the case study through the use of structured questionnaire, interviews and record of the hotels. A review of relevant literature and an analysis and interpretation of data were made. Important conclusions were drawn from the analysis, and vital recommendations wore made. In the course of carrying out the research, many problems were seen plaguing the hotel industry among which are the following:- 1. Problem of location 2. Financial problem 3. Marketing problem 4. Corporate image problem 5. Personnel problem 6. Problem of cost 7. Poor standard of service 8. Problem of inadequate infrastructure. Despite all these problems identified, there are still some prospects for the industry. Though the present economic situation scares many people in the industry, but the few that survive the situation have many hopes ahead.en_US
