dc.description.abstractThis paper focused on records usage for security and socio-economic development. Records constitute sources of information about person, place, things, events and the rest. Security is the total care and protection of lives and properties. Socio-economic development is the advancement in the security, access to basic amenities and the welfare of the people. The activities carried out by human being which violate the societal norm such as stealing, armed robbery, kidnapping, terrorism, raping to mention but few lead to chaos and inability of the individual and any nation to achieve security and socio-economic development. It is concluded that records such as police reports, vigilant reports, community leaders’ reports etc. are important tools used in order to acquire information needed to achieve security and socio-economic development. It is suggested that planners, implementers and evaluators in the fields of security of lives and properties as well as socio-economic development, parents, teachers, organizational leaders, citizens and everybody globally should intensify the use of records like victims’ reports, vigilant reports, community leaders’ reports among others. This will enable them to acquire information about past, present and even the predicted security and socio-economic challenges and achievements in order to make a decision.
