Abstract
A soil sample which was identified as a weak material for stabilization with coment was used in testing the load carrying capacity of soilcrote specimens and the various affects on it. The stressstrain deformation pattern of soilcrote was also studied in addition to the effect of height-diameter ratio on the compressive strength of soilcrete cylinders. The soilcrete specimens were produced at action pressure similar to that for hand operated soilcrete block moulding machines. The results present some knowledge of soilcrete as a building material, and these suggest that hand rated machines are likely to produce soilcrete blocks suitable for low cost housing. A total of 197 cubes, 79 cylinders and 24 hollow blocks were tested.
