Abstract
The aim of this research is to develop a cadastral information system for Mammy settlement. The cadastral layout of the study area was acquired, scanned, georeferenced and digitised using ArcGIS 10.1 software package. In order to obtain the land ownership information, the administration of adjudication form was carried out. A cadastral database encompassing a spatial database and attribute database were then designed and built using the information gathered. Data querying was carried out, the results revealed that, there were 738 parcels and 653 parcel owners in which vast majority of the land owners were males with the proportion of 86.68%. About 46.09% of the parcel owners in the area were civil servants. About 58% of all the parcels were undeveloped. Findings also showed that residential land uses had the highest proportion (58%) while the parcels used for institutional purpose and also mixed purposes had the lowest proportion each covering 3% of the total land uses. The study also showed that, there was high level lack of compliance of land uses and road networks with the layout plan of the area. The following recommendation was suggested: The State Government should employ GIS technology in creating Cadastral Information System in the State to enhance effective and efficient cadastral management.
