This project aims at assessing the carrier propagation on a specified section of NEPA overhead powerlines, namely, the Shiroro Complex 132kV lines. Following an overview discussion of powerline carrier communication systems, consideration was given to the type of parameters required for assessing the communication system on the Shiroro Complex. Line parameters obtained from the Kaduna 330/132/33kV transmission station were used to determine the basic series impedance and shunt admittance matrices of the network. The parameters for electrically short lines at power frequency and those for the electrically long lines at higher frequencies were then derived from the matrices. The results were analysed and conclusions drawn from the analysis. Finally, some recommendations were presented for possible use by the management of NEPA and also for further worken_US
