Abstract
The present study deals with the geophysical part
of a comprehensive groundwater exploration project
being executed in Bodeyel, Karaftayi and Kazaure town
by Water Resources and Engineering Construction
Agency.
Eleven vertical geoelectric Schlumberger
grillings (soundings) were conducted along the chosen
profile of each area in order to study the layer
parameters governing groundwater occurrences in the
subsurface strata. The collected data have been
reduced and analyzed automatically using an
appropriate advanced computer software. In this
respect, the geoelectric drilling data were subjected
to inversion program of an n-layered model analysis.
The results of the analysis are presented as
subsurface layering and subsurface resistivity contour our
sections
The geologic interpretation of the automatically
interpreted data result was used in the construction
of the subsurface equivalent geologic section of each
profile. The geologic sections have revealed that the
top and bottom layer have high resistivity values
(1,000 to 7,000 Qm) while the middle layers have
intermediate resistivity of less than 1,000 Qm. In
addition, a close examination of the equivalent
geologic sections indicates that there exists points
with complementary combination of layer parameters
that favour highest Groundwater accumulation and
storage. Such points have been selected and
recommended as the best location of boreholes. These
are BD06 (Bodeyel) , KT07 (Karaftayi) and KZ03 (Kazaure
town).
