Abstract
ABSTRACT
The procedure for producing a calibration curve
for the determination of aluminium, conper, zinc and
chromium in trace amounts is described. It involves
the use of a sensitive spectrophotometric method based
on the formation of intensely coloured micellar
improved ternary systems. The systems studied are:
Zn - PGR, Cr - PGR as well as Al - CV and Cu - CV.
On investigating the interaction between (PGR)
and zinc or chromium, the wavelength of maximum
absorption of 520nm was recorded for the PGR - Zn system
and 414nm for the Cr - PGR system with corresponding
extinction coefficient values of 13,66 x 10 3 l.mole-1 cm-1
and 18.94 l.mole-1 cm-1 . From the results, the
stoichiometry of the Zn - PGR complex was either
Zn(PGR)5 or Zn2PGR but it was impossible to deduce that
of the Cr - PGR complex.
The binary systems were sensitized by the addition
of
