Abstract
This study focuses on exploring purposes of records utilisation for community
services by voluntary social clubs in Northern States, Nigeria. The research questions
sought to find out the purposes of utilisation of records and the extent at which the
records managed by Voluntary Social Clubs in Northern States, Nigeria satisfy their
needs for their community services. A descriptive cross-sectional survey research
design was adopted for this study. The population of this study comprises the
members of Voluntary Social Clubs in Northern States of Nigeria totaling eightyfour
(84). The researcher used the entire members of the population of this study.
The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics was
used in analysing the data used to answer the research questions. Inferential
statistics of Kruskal Wallis were used in analysing all the hypotheses formulated in
this study. It was found that the majority of the respondents agreed with compliance
with rules and regulations and referred as the most purposes of utilising records.
The respondents were satisfied with minutes of the meeting as the type of records
