dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the adoption of Library Management Systems (LMS) as a tool for enhancing library service in Colleges of Education in Adamawa State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study are to: assess the current state of library services in Colleges of Education Libraries, evaluate the level of adoption of Library Management Systems, determine the impact of Library Management System adoption on the quality of library services e and Proffer solution for implementing Library Management System in Colleges of Education Libraries in Adamawa State. The study was guided by five research questions. The study adopts descriptive research design. The target populations of this study were 100 library staff in two Colleges of Education in Adamawa State. Census sampling technique was adopted in selecting sample for this study. Based on that the whole population was used that is 100 staff of the colleges. The study adopted descriptive statistics using Mean and Standard Deviation as the method of data analysis. The findings of the study show moderate satisfaction among respondents regarding the current state of library services, the highest-rated item was the availability of adequate reading spaces (Mean = 3.65). The study indicates a modest level of adoption of Library Management Systems (LMS). Respondents agree that their institutions have adopted LMS (Mean = 3.85). The findings reported general agreement that LMS has had a positive impact. The study revealed that the most significant challenge is lack of funding with (Mean = 4.10). The study recommends that the Federal and State Ministries of Education should allocate dedicated budgets for ICT infrastructure in college libraries, the management should adopt open-source platforms such as Koha, which are widely used in developing countries and costeffective and the management should involve trained IT personnel in the selection, deployment, and maintenance of LMS tools
