Classicism has been the dominant trend in the genres of Arabic poetry in many literary works in Nigeria. This has been attributed to the fact that most Nigerian artists are more familiar with the Classical Arabic Literature with they normally studied as a subject in the Islamic Civilization. However, there are glimpse of modernity in some works by various contemporary poets who extend their genres to touch present-day issues. This paper attempts to explore the input towards modernizing the genres of literature made by a contemporary poet in the person of Barrister Adam Usman, the poet has been found to include International Politics as a genre in his Arabic poetry. The paper concludes that these efforts by the said poet signify his quota towards the modernization of Nigerian Arabic Literature.en_US
