| dc.description.abstract | The application of Management Information Systems (MIS) in libraries is a transformative development that enhances efficiency, accessibility, and decision-making in the provision of information services. In Nigeria, the integration of MIS into academic and public libraries has become increasingly relevant in the face of rapid digital transformation and growing user demands. This paper provides an overview of MIS in Nigerian libraries, discussing its key components, benefits, and challenges. It also highlights illustrative case studies that have adopted integrated library systems. The study concludes by emphasizing that the highlighted challenges need to be strategically addressed. The paper proffers way forward for improving the adoption and sustainability of MIS in Nigerian libraries, such as MIS policy formulation to guide implementation and governance, infrastructure development, funding, capacity building, and collaboration. | |
