Abstract
Today, entrepreneurship is carved a niche in the information profession most especially
the library. There is a battle line drawn between information professionals who are ready
to embrace the change and those aloof. This study therefore looks into the prospects and
place of entrepreneurship among academic librarians as an imperative for quality
service delivery in the information profession considering the challenges of the 21st c
Information Communication Technology. From the study, entrepreneurship in
information profession is just gaining recognition and at the teething stage among
Academic Librarians and that most of them have very low knowledge of the subject
matter. On that premise, it is recommended that Entrepreneurship be given special
attention to by the Library School Management Boards through orientation of the
stakeholders towards embracing Entrepreneurship in information works and also putting
in place facilities, structures and equipments that will encourage past, present and future
