This work spells out the mode of execution and the results of the geoelectrical investigation within the Northern Part of Kaduna State, Nigeria. The project is located within Latitude 10° 40' and 11° 20' North and Longitude 7° 0' and 8° 0' East. The Schlumberger 4 - array was used in the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) methods with a maximum half current electrodes separation of 156 m. A total of 118 VES points was occupied. Majority of the VES curves obtained are the 4 - layer types though there are both 3 - and 5 - layer types. The Zohdy method has been used for the interpretation of the field curves. The beginning of each geoelectric section was found to be influenced by the dry soil or laterite or fadama loam. The thicknesses of the layers also vary from location to location depending on the processes that have taken place and the typ of parent rock. The top layers give resistivity values as large as a few hundreds of ohm-meters for laterites and loose sands or as low as 100 ohm-m or less for fadama loams and clays, and varies in thickness from 1 m to 20 m. The weathered basement rock is made up of various materials due to the weathering of the parent rock. They could contain mixed sands with varying degree of coarseness with clays. The thickness varies from 1 m to 60 m, but on the average the thickness is around 45 m while the resistivity is between 50 to 200 ohm-m. Under favourable structural setting this layer could serve as good aquifer. vien_US
