dc.description.abstractThere has been the increase in the demands for effective and efficient administrative system as well as the need for cross-cultural understanding of different government operational system around the World particularly in the developing nations like Kenya and Tanzania. That make the study of comparative public administration to keep revolving for many decades. It remained one of the best way to understand many different factors that influence growth and also those that impended development in different countries. The paper aimed to carry out comparative analysis of political and administrative system of Kenya and Tanzania. The work utilized reliable secondary data generated from internet, books and official documents. Base on the analysis of data generated, the study find out that the two countries are operating in unitary system with presidential system of government but differ slightly in the compositions, structure and settings of their arms of government; bureaucracies of two countries were offshoot from colonial administration with much legacies of British service; the size of the civil service and number of the civil servants had grown beyond sustaining level that led to the introduction of reform measures to downsize the workforce to manageable level. It is therefore recommended that developing countries when taking decision should have a plan for future sustainability.
