dc.description.abstract | The Government house is one of the most important public buildings in any state. By definition, it is an institutional building or establishment owned by the Government of a particular state, which provides office and residential accommodation as well as recreational and social facilities or services for the serving Governor of a state. Because of the importance of the Governor of a state and the caliber of people that have business to do in the Government house, provision of security becomes very important in running a Government house. Security is provided against terrorism, vandalism, theft, political opponents any other form of threat that could arise. However, the Government house is a public building, especially in the light of the present democratic dispensation. Certain activities that were non-existent during the military regime are now undertaken; such as political rallies, visits and courtesy calls by political party representatives and visits by political party members for official, political and private reasons. In essence, now the Government house has to be open to the public to a certain extent. To ensure a smooth running of activities in this establishment, a certain balance and harmony have to be created between these two important entities (security and openness). In creating that balance, certain considerations have to be taken. The purpose of this research is to look into those considerations with the aim of finding a balance between security and openness and using such findings to propose a better design than what we have presently in Gombe state and the country in general | en_US |
