Abstract
The aim of this project was to verify how adaptable. were the proposed methods to the spectrophotometric analysis of penicillins. The proposed methods are the phosphotungstate and N-ethylmaleimide methods. For both methods, Beer's law is obeyed between 0 and 14 ug/ml with the limit of detection of about 1 ug/ml or less. These methods were also applied to the quantitative analysis of penicillins in urine and pharmaceutical preparations. For the purpose of comparison, established methods like Pan's method and B.P, 1973 The pharmaceutical preparations employed in the analysis include capsules, injections, tablets and syrups of various trade names and manufacturers.
