| dc.description.abstract | Vocational Education has been defined as t r a i n i ng f o r useful employment. This d e f i n i t i o n f i t s any form of education except that we are here t a l k i n g of a s p e c i f ic c r a f t or trade. Vocational Education s t r i v e s to: 1. meet the man-power needs of society 2. increase the options available to i t s receipients 3. serves as a motivation force to enhance a l l types of l e a r n i n g. The purpose of t h i s thesis is therefore: 1. To improve the employment p o t e n t i a l s of the country. 2. To increase the badly needed s k i l l e d and semis k i l l e d man-pouer for national development. 3. To design a model centre for vocational t r a i n i n g. S C O P E The centre will be a two-sex non-boarding school for 500 students. It will comprise of eight work-shops, administrative and academic block, with a multi purpose hall. iii There will be the mobile unit department which will emerge as the School comes into full operation.
