Abstract
Vocational Education has been defined as t r a i n i ng
f o r useful employment. This d e f i n i t i o n f i t s any form of
education except that we are here t a l k i n g of a s p e c i f ic
c r a f t or trade.
Vocational Education s t r i v e s to:
1. meet the man-power needs of society
2. increase the options available to i t s receipients
3. serves as a motivation force to enhance a l l
types of l e a r n i n g.
The purpose of t h i s thesis is therefore:
1. To improve the employment p o t e n t i a l s of the
country.
2. To increase the badly needed s k i l l e d and semis
k i l l e d man-pouer for national development.
3. To design a model centre for vocational t r a i n i n g.
S C O P E
The centre will be a two-sex non-boarding school for
500 students. It will comprise of eight work-shops, administrative
and academic block, with a multi purpose hall.

There will be the mobile unit department which will emerge
as the School comes into full operation. Details of the
mobile unit will be explained later in the text.
