    A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INDEXES OF BOOK PUBLISHED IN NIGERIA IN THE HUMANITIES, SOCIAL SCIENCE AND SCIENCES

    Good book indexes are' very essential for information retrieval from books, on this fact, this research was embarked upon to evaluate book indexes published in Nigeria. A random sampling 6f4.-three hundred and twenty two (322) books was made from farmanities, Social Sciences and the Sciences. Eighty fivE (85) were found with indexes. Based on these 85 books' the study revealed that there was no significant difference among the number of books with indexes' in humanities, social science and the. sciences. Also, there was no significant diff^eh-ce between the number of books. with indexes in the humanities and social sciences between social science and the, sciences and between humanities and sciences.
