ORGANISATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE NOMADIC EDUCATION SCHEME IN KADUNA STATE OF NIGERIA

dc.description.abstractThe purpose of t h i s study was to i n v e s t i g a t e the n a t u r e, o r g a n i s a t i o n and a d m i n i s t r a t i o n of the Nomadic e d u c a t i o n scheme and the f a c t o r s t h a t m i l i t a t e a g a i n s t i t s smooth implementation i n Kaduna S t a t e . It was intended to d e t e r m i n e whether s i g n i f i c a n t d i f f e r e n c e s e x i s t i n t h e o p i n i o n s of the r e s p o n d e n t s on t h e o r g a n i s a t i o n and a d m i n i s t r a t i o n of the scheme in the S t a t e. Four c l a s s e s of r e s p o n d e n t s in f i v e randomly s e l e c t e d Local Government Areas of t h e S t a t e were used in t h i s study and they i n c l u d e the o f f i c i a l s of the Nomadic Education Scheme, the t e a c h e r s , Nomadic P a r e n t s and t h e p u p i l s . A multiple sampling approach was adopted to select 13 officials, 37 teachers, 72 parents and 285 pupils who responded to issues raised in the questionnaire. In all, a total of 407 respondents were involved in the study. The four null hypotheses which were raised in this study were all rejected at 0,05 significant level, this means that significant differences exist in the opinions of the respondents on the organisation and administration of the scheme in the State. The major findings of the study were that the nature of organisation and administration of the scheme affect its success in Kaduna State, that even though the Nomads in Kaduna State are aware of what the on going education scheme meant for them, the location of the Nomadic schools, too far away from their homes, affect their acceptance of the programmer. Based on the findings of the research, recommendations were made to effect improvementsen_US
