Abstract
Architecture is that field of human, endeavor that
concerns itself with man’s essence of being, in a
comfortable environment. Architecture can only foster
enjoyable experience and consequent appreciation if its
commitment is total. Man has failed to recognize the
fact that the architectural vocation of any particular
place should be governed by the culture of the
inhabitants and the nature of the place. By recognizing
human and social needs, and by application of suitable
strategies and techniques of design, all the complex
requirements of architecture can be reconciled and
integrated into structures which are both humane and
efficient.
The effectiveness of a transportation system in
commonly measured in terms of its ability to
efficiently process the transported unit, and the
performance of an airport system is dependent upon
the individual components which comprise it.
Kaduna International Airport requires sequential
utilization of several facilities and as such its
overall efficiency had been limited by the
characteristic of the least efficient component
which is the passenger and baggage handling
facility.
AIRPORT *88 is an attempt at providing an ideal
passenger terminal system that responds to passenger
comfort and convenience requirements; that provides a
favorable atmosphere for airline operators and airport
management; that satisfies the peculiar nature of
Kaduna International Airport as regards
domestic and occasional international flight
operations; and that will accommodate possible
organisational, economic or technological changes.
Development is the act of growing, increasing,
becoming more complete and thus paving way for economic
possibilities. Essential facilities that are required
for the technical competency of Kaduna Airport are
available in serviceable condition. Put lack of a
proper passenger terminal system hinders its commercial
viability. Thus, the end product of this research is a
contribution to the development of Kaduna International
Airport.
