Abstract
Any action of a distributor, producer or a marketer designed to shift goods to the existing customers and or consumers is termed distribution. Distribution can take different forms depending on the nature of the products, the needs of the customers, the sizes of the market competition and the purchasing power of the consumer. Due to the abnormal economic situation of Nigeria, the distributive system has been of great concern to both government and private organizations and in addition the consumers. One major problem with us in this country is that we do not care until situation gets worse and become unbearable before we start thinking of solutions. It is my contention that the price at which the two products dealt with here detergents and rice are too exorbitant due to the number of hands through which the products passed before they finally reached the ultimate consumers. To this and, I am therefore submitting that our channel of distribution should be reduced and the supply section of our economy should be drastically changed so that the middlemen are reduced to only, the distributors who are appointed on the basis of their past records of integrity. Retailers should control a given geographical location of which they -VIare accountable for if there is any price increase. The use of consumer - cooperatives, workers cooperatives and other vital recommendation were made in this research to help solve the channel distribution problems now existing.
