Since the establishment of the 'Nongo u Kristu u ken Sudan hen Tiv' (NKST) Church in 1911 and the later autonomy in 1957, the Church has remained dogmatic, not willing to change anything from her practices or operational bureaucracy to match with the changing times. This unchanging attitude has created a fertile ground for Pentecostalism to have their way into the Church. The research is embarked upon in order to find out the influence of Pentecostalism onthe 'Nongo u Kristu u ken Sudan hen Tiv' (NKST) Church in Benue State, and to proffer solution by finding out ways through which the church can adapt and embrace the positive influences of Pentecostalism for church development. The researcher used survey design. A self developed but vetted and pilot tested questionnaire was administered on randomly selected 650respondents from the three senatorial areas of the State. Data generated were analyzed with inferential statistics. The null hypotheses were also tested (0.05 level of significance) with the one-way analysis of variance because of the multiple independent variables. The research revealed some negative influences such as, babbling in the Church in the name of speaking in tongue, loss of respect for the conservative pastors and elders, disunity between those already influenced and uninfluenced. Positive influences of Pentecostalism on the NKST Church include emphasis on prayer, keeping of night vigils with worship, preaching against the use of tobacco and consumption of alcohol. In conclusion, the research recommended that efforts should be made by the church authority to adopt some of the Pentecostal activities which are not completely against Biblical injunctions since Pentecost is really the base of Christianity; and a liberal approach should be adopted with dissenting members. I f areas of agreement by the respondents are carefully projected by the NKST Church, it will lessen disunity and schism in the church for development.en_US
