dc.description.abstractThe study entitled Development of resist decorated fabrics for modern fashionable clothing in some selected parts of Kaduna and Kano States in Nigeria was inspired by the need to identify, and assess the decorated fabrics for use in fashionable clothing for occasional and everyday wears. In Samaru Zaria, Kaduna and Kano municipal Kano state, the overall objective of the study was to indentify the available types of the decorative fabrics like the tie-dye, batik and the adire- eleko as well as to examine which was the most preferred of the decorated fabrics for fashion. Descriptive survey method was adopted as the research design. Questionnaires, interviews, and observational schedules were designed and administered on the sample population that was made of designers and consumers, and the data was finally analysed. Major findings from the data analysis shows that the designers and consumers liked the tie- dye more, followed by batik then the adire eleko. Other findings from the study were that resist techniques of fabric decoration are a source of supply in fashion business in Nigeria. Also, job opportunities and self reliance can be enhanced in the production of resist decorated fabrics in Nigeria. In conclusion, the study highlighted the usefulness and beauty of the decorated fabrics as an avertable tool in providing more income and appreciation of cultural fabrics for usage in everyday and occasional wears.en_US
